DETROIT (WXYZ) - American Coney Island is rolling the dice on Vegas.
The Detroit institution will open up its first out-of-state restaurant in the fall.
"What a perfect spot," says Grace Keros, the restaurant's owner. "It's very exciting."
The owners of the new D Hotel came calling just about a month ago, and it’s already a done deal. The D stands for downtown as in downtown Vegas but the Detroit-bred owners of the hotel wanted some real Detroit touches.
"They approached me," says Keros. "They wanted the flavors and tastes of Detroit."
The D Hotel was Fitzgeralds, but it’s being revamped and rebranded in an effort to rebuild downtown Las Vegas.
The renamed hotel, with American Coney Island inside, will celebrate a grand opening the second week of October.
