DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Happy 4 party store on Fort St. in Detroit was robbed around 9:15 Thursday morning by a man armed with an AK-47 and his accomplice.
The store owner and his nephew were in the store when the robbers rushed in. The owner's son, Chadie Saad, who was not in the store at the time of the robbery, says his father was handing over the money, but for some reason one of the robbers punched him in the head.
On their way out, Saad says the robbers fired one shot at his 33-year-old cousin. The bullet hit his cousin in the leg. He was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
Detroit police are searching for the two robbers who were seen driving away in a green Taurus with damage to the driver's side door.
Saad says his family's party store has been a part of the southwest Detroit community for more than 40 years and they've never had any problems like this.
