DETROIT, Mich. (WXYZ) - Detroit police and FBI agents are investigating an armored vehicle stolen on the city's East side Monday morning. They say it had $2 million inside when it was carjacked.

Police tell 7 Action News two employees were servicing a machine similar to an ATM  shortly after 7:00 a.m. The machine doles out cash to customers exchanging scrap metal at a business in the 6400 block of Strong.

The people operating the armored vehicle were approached and then the two suspects disarmed the guard and made off with the armored car - a plain-looking white vehicle.

The vehicle was used to transport large amounts of money used to fill similar ATM machines.

Later Monday morning, the vehicle was found still running in the area of Harper and I-94, but the money was not inside.
