DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit fire fighters will rest more comfortably during their downtime thanks to a donation by Art Van Furniture.
The retailer is donating 150 mattress and box spring sets to fire houses across the city.
Mayor Dave Bing and Detroit Fire Commissioner Don Austin were joined by Art Van founder and chairman, Art Van Elslander in making the announcement.
The initial delivery of fifteen mattress sets was made Christmas Eve morning at Engine Company 50, Ladder 23 on Detroit's east side. Van Elslander has made a commitment to replace 136 other mattresses in 2013.
