Chester Logan assumes Detroit Police Chief duties during suspension of Ralph Godbee for sex scandal

DETROIT (WXYZ) - Assistant Chief Chester L. Logan will assume the role of Detroit Police Chief during the suspension of Ralph Godbee.

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing announced Tuesday that Godbee would be suspended for thirty days during an investigation of a relationship he is alleged to have had with Angelica Robinson, a Detroit police officer.

Chester Logan is a longtime member of Detroit's police force who has served in high-ranking positions for a number of years.

In a biography he posted for a Detroit City Council run ten years ago, Logan noted that he is a father of four and a Vietnam Veteran.

He holds a Bachelors Degree from Madonna University and a Masters Degree from Eastern Michigan University.

In a statement released Tuesday, Bing wrote, "After learning of the allegations regarding Chief Ralph Godbee, I have placed him on a 30-day suspension pending a full and thorough investigation of this matter. In the interim, Assistant Chief Chester Logan will assume the duties and responsibilities of police chief.
