DETROIT (WXYZ) - The process that will get Detroit out of Bankruptcy is starting to take shape with the appointment of Gerald Rosen, the Chief District Judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, as mediator in the case.
Rosen was appointed mediator by US Bankruptcy Court Judge Steven Rhodes on Tuesday.
As mediator he will work with different parties in the case who have agreed to try and come to an agreement. Rosen will also be able to appoint other mediators in the case.
Rosen has sat on the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan since November 1989, when he was appointed by President George H. W. Bush. He has been Chief Judge of the Court since January 1, 2009.
Rosen may be best known in Detroit for his dismissal of the lawsuit brought by the family of Tamara Greene that claimed former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick covered up her murder.
