DETROIT (WXYZ) - Members of Immanuel Lutheran Church took their service to the streets on Sunday.

More than a hundred people gathered for Sunday service at the church, which is located in the 13000 block of Chandler Park Drive, on Detroit’s east side.

The spot was just a half of a block away from where church members say a young man was killed last Tuesday.  Church members were speaking out against all the violence in the city and around the country.

The group marched throughout the neighborhood, with the hopes the community heard their message of love.

A number of elected officials took part in Sunday’s outside services.  Pastor Patrick Gahagen told 7 Action News the congregation has held similar outdoor worships three times this summer.

Church members are urging residents to get involved and speak up when they have information about crimes.
