DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Corporation Counsel Krystal Crittendon says she has not decided whether to appeal a judge's decision that ended her lawsuit against the state challenging the Detroit Consent Agreement.
Crittendon made the remarks while speaking with reporters Thursday afternoon before a city council meeting.
She says she has 21 days to decide what to do next.
Crittendon also says the judge did not read far enough into the Detroit City Charter before making his ruling.
Crittendon's lawsuit contended that the state of Michigan could not enter into a Consent Agreement with Detroit because the charter does not allow the city to enter into contracts with an entity that owes it money.
Detroit officials say the city is owed millions in revenue sharing from the state. State officials say they don't owe the city any money.
A judge dismissed Crittendon's lawsuit Wednesday, saying that the power to file such a case lies with the Mayor and the City Council.
