DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is alive and at home recovering from recent surgery.

Worry over the Queen of Soul sprung up monday night after rumorsĀ  she had died began showing up on the Internet Monday.

Some speculate that the false reports of Franklin's death may have been the result of online confusion between the "Queen of Soul" and the actual death of Teena Marie. Marie was known as the "Ivory Queen of Soul."

The death hoax comes as Franklin battles pancreatic cancer. She has cancelled all her upcoming shows in order to take time to recover from the illness.
