DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit City Council members are pleased with the tentative agreement reached with what's being called a coalition of city unions.
The coalition represents about six thousand employees.
Some Council members got a look at the proposed three year deal Friday. Several members point out delicate negotiations between the police and fire unions are the missing piece to the puzzle.
"There has been movement and they have given back on health and pensions," said president Charles Pugh. But he added the city will need more if it's too escape emergency management.
On Tuesday council will begin the process of voting on specific budgets cuts. Some are being proposed by Mayor Bing others by council.
"We need to present our plan to the mayor first," said councilman James Tate who hopes a joint plan from the mayor and council will then be presented to the governor.
