Detroit City Council set to vote on contract; could cost city millions

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit City Council is set to vote on the $300,000 Miller-Canfield contract.
It's scheduled to happen during a council session Tuesday.
Without approval of the contract, the state will withhold $30 million from the city. Mayor Dave Bing is asking council to approve the contract along with five other requests Tuesday.
Mayor Bing is seeking counsel from the law firm Miller-Canfield but council sees it as a conflict of interest due to their involvement in previous city financial decisions.
Last week State Treasurer Andy Dillon met with city officials and said if a deal isn't reached surrounding the contract, an emergency financial manager could be possible.
