DETROIT (WXYZ) - Henry Ford Health Systems has partnered with the Detroit Edison Public School Academy to open a health center at the school.
The Webber Pioneer Health Center is designed to help reduce pediatric emergency visits and hospitalizations. It will also provide programs that support working parents and help keep children in school.
The primary focus us it provide educational programs that help students live a healthier life. The idea is that a healthier student is a more academically successful student.
To that end, the health center's main goal is to reduce chronic conditions like asthma, Type 2 diabetes and obesity. These type of conditions can lead to illnesses that make students miss class.
The center is now open.
