DETROIT (WXYZ) - Dozens of Detroiters are opening up their doors to strangers. The reason? To encourage suburban dwellers to move to the city.

The 6th annual Crain’s Detroit House Party is being held today. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktail parties at Detroit homes, lofts, condos and apartments. The evening wraps up with an afterglow from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Roostertail.

At each home, residents will greet their guests with a warm welcome and hors d'oeuvres.

The event has been called "an immersion in Detroit neighborhoods" that often creates friendships and networking relationships.

Tickets are $60 for Crain's Detroit Business subscribers, $50 for those in groups of 20 or more, $85 for nonsubscribers and $85 with a special Crain's subscription offer.

For more information, call (313) 446-0300 or go to crainsdetroit.com/events .

Registration ends Monday.
