DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit People Mover service has resumed after the strong odor of gas shut down the system earlier Thursday.
Officials halted the People Mover when a possible gas leak was detected in one of its downtown Detroit stations.
An all-clear was given about one hour after riders were told to evacuate the People Mover.
Officials say they evacuated riders at 11:35 a.m. when a strong gas odor was identified in the Broadway Station.
"Patrons were asked to exit closest to their destinations starting at approximately 11:35 a.m. to allow for the closure of the stations and the powering down of the system," said a statement from the Detroit Transportation Corporation who operates the People Mover.
