DETROIT (WXYZ) - A young Detroit man is dead after being shot at a gas station on the city's northwest side.
The clerk at the Mobil station tells Action News that the man bought cigarillos in the store and returned to his Taurus parked out front when two men wearing masks ran toward him and one started firing.
The victim tried to get away, driving about two blocks before losing control of his car and crashing. He was dead at the scene.
Police say it appears the man was targeted because others were outside at the gas station, and the gunmen ran past them to get to the victim. It was not a robbery.
The police say the victim is 18 or 19. A cousin tells Action News that the victim has a two-year-old child. The suspects are described as being between 18 and 21.
