DETROIT (WXYZ) - The Detroit Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man they say is responsible for assaulting and robbing a 75- year-old woman at knife point.

The attack happened Thursday, February 12, around 10:45 p.m. when the woman went outside her home in the 1500 block of Cheateau to pull her trash can out. The suspect grabbed her, told her he had a knife and forced his way into her home as she was going back in.

He physically assaulted the victim, took several of her personal items and some cash before fleeing the home. The woman is hospitalized in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a black male, between the ages of 25-30. He has a medium build and a medium brown complexion.  Police also say he has a round face with a thin mustache.
