DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Public Schools says an application period is opening for parents wanting to get their children into 19 of its schools.
The five-week period begins Monday and runs through March 15 for the 19 designated schools. People can apply on the district's website.
The district says applications are open to its current students, those who are starting school, and those who now attend school outside the district.
Emergency manager Roy Roberts says an open enrollment period for schools that don't require an application runs form March 15 to April 16.
