DETROIT (WXYZ) - Fireworks surrounded Detroit Schools Emergency Financial Manager Robert Bobb as he presented his budget for the 2011 school year Wednesday night.

Parents angry with Bobb for the way he is handling the situation lashed out, with some saying the best thing he could do for the children is to leave.

The comments were in reaction to Bobb's budget, which calls for drastic cuts next school year. Detroit Schools are facing a $363 million dollar deficit. In order to deal with that, Bobb's budget calls for a 25% across the board cut to spending, increased class sizes and cuts to some special education programs.

Bobb also faced questions about Superintendant Teresa Gueyser. At this point, it is no clear if Gueyser is still employed by the school district. Bobb has said he did not approve an one year contract extension that the school board gave her. However, board member Tyrone Winfrey says that the board has the right to hire a superintendant without the approval of the Emergency Financial Manager.

The controversy is sure to spill over into court, where the School Board is already suing Bobb. They contend that he is overstepping his authority.

Another issue Bobb is facing is the situation surrounding former Board President Otis Mathis. Mathis has been charged with a felony for allegedly fondling himself during a meeting with Gueyser.

After he was charged, School Board member Reverend David Murray said he should not have been charged because he was a young man who probably didn't know that what he did was wrong.

Bobb blasted Murray and the School Board over those comments, saying they should have censured Murray for them. Winfrey says the board is already dealing with Murray.
