DETROIT (WXYZ) - Cafe D'Mongo's Speakeasy in Downtown Detroit has once again been defaced by graffiti taggers, but the owner says the county prosecutor is also to blame.
Larry Mongo says he and neighboring businesses recently spent thousands of dollars cleaning up the mess left by graffiti artists back in April.
Earlier this week, the graffiti returned, and the tag is identical to the one from the past. Mongo now says Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy should aggressively charge and prosecute vandals.
Action News reached out to Worthy's office, which says it can only press charges if it receives the case from police. No case was filed from the April incident.
Worthy's office says most of its graffiti cases come from Michigan State Police and not Detroit Police. We reached out to the Detroit Police Department asking about its vandalism policy, but we have yet to hear back.
