SAN ANTONIO (AP) -
Investigators in Texas say a drug-running scheme allegedly involved trying to buy a pontoon boat and trailer to haul marijuana to Detroit.
Prosecutors on Thursday announced seven arrests in a ring linked to Texas, California, Michigan and Florida.
A two-count federal indictment was unsealed this week in San Antonio. Five defendants are from San Antonio, one is from Fort Worth and another lives in Fort Myers, Fla.
All seven are charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana. Two suspects are also charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering in the ring allegedly operating since 2009.
Agents overall have seized about $1 million, 800 marijuana plants, 760 pounds of marijuana and nine firearms.
Further details on where and how the ring allegedly operated weren't immediately released.
