DETROIT,Mich.(WXYZ) - Eastern Market Tuesdays is a smaller version of the Saturday Market but had great success last year and it officially began this morning.

Tuesday’s will feature over 50 food vendors per week, with a focus on Michigan and locally produced items. Many of these vendors are Saturday favorites, however, over a dozen of these vendors will be exclusive to the Tuesday Market.

Lonnie Decker told Action News that she is excited to be one of the sixty vendors expected at the first "Tuesday at Eastern Market" this year. Decker was busy setting up flowers for the event. She tells Action News "This is a great place for it, we should do more days."

The Tuesday market will feature cooking demonstrations, canning and preservation through Ball Jars’ “Discover You Can” program, and the last Tuesday of every month will culminate with Truck Stop, Detroit’s original food truck meet‐up!

“Tuesdays” is also a proud member of the Detroit Community Market network, a group of 14

alternative food access programs founded to encourage good eating in the city of Detroit.

The market will be open each Tuesday from 11am‐6pm. Tuesday’s Market has been extended later into harvest season and will run from July 10 to October 30, 2012.
