Detroit (WXYZ) - Fans packed Comerica Park for the Eminem and Jay-Z concert Thursday night, and thousands more will see a second show Friday night.

Dozens of fans arrived early to get a good seat because tickets are general admission. The first fans arrived around midnight and camped out on the sidewalk.

"We’re going to run and get to the front as far as possible. And then not move for the rest of the night," said Samantha Deighton.

Jay-Z is the opening act for Eminem in the "Home and Home Tour."

Two concerts will be held at Comerica Park this weekend. Then they take their act to Jay-Z's hometown of New York on September 13th and 14th where Eminem will be the opening act and Jay-Z will be the headliner.

"This is monumental these two guys together. I mean look at all the people here already," said Nick Yoxall. He flew in for the concert from Kansas.

Mark Wenner of East Lansing was one of the first in line for tonight's first concert, saying "I've never been to an Eminem concert before and I'm a huge fan. I've been waiting forever to go to one. It finally came around so we got here early."

Action News got a sneak peek of Eminem rehearsing at Comerica Park on Tuesday night.  Crews have been setting up for the past few days.

Thursday was Eminem's first full concert since last October in New Orleans.

Eminem's new album "Recovery" has sold 2.4 million copies. Fans say they can relate to the ups and downs of his life that he raps so freely about.

"He raps about real stuff like his life, what he’s been through, his experiences," said Brittany Weems.

"It's a lot different from other rappers and what they rap about. It's just real," she said.
