DETROIT (WXYZ) - Murphy Elementary School in Detroit was evacuated for a short time this morning due to a fire.
7 Action News is being told that the fire alarm went off at around 11:15 am. The school was evacuated and the Detroit Fire Department responded.
Video from Chopper 7 shows the children being taken back into the building shortly after noon.
The school is on the city's west side in the area of Fenkell and Telegraph.
There are no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Classes have been canceled for the rest of the day. It has not yet been determined if school will be in session tomorrow.
