DETROIT, Mich. (WXYZ) - He once held a high-profile position as the head of Homicide for Detroit Police, but now William Rice and his girlfriend Cheryl Sanford are accused of hiding assets from Rice's wife in a case that involves allegations of mortgage fraud, conspiracy and drugs.

When the preliminary examination for Rice and Sanford continued Wednesday, prosecutors added two additional charges of Controlled Substance – Manufacturing and Delivery.

Matthew Nutt, Special Agent from the Office of Inspector General, testified that when he interviewed Sanford about properties that were in her name, she told him Rice paid for the properties but put them in her name to hide them from his wife.

When testimony resumes Friday, prosecutors could reveal details of the investigation that led to the drug charges.
