(WXYZ) - Wearing his very own Tigers jersey with his name on the back, Chief Meteorologist Jerry Hodak threw out the first pitch at Wednesday night's Tiger game.

Jerry threw the ceremonial pitch to Tigers' manager Jim Leyland.

We were all very excited about this, because we're just days away from wishing Jerry well on his retirement.

To top off the night, Jerry's first pitch was the good luck charm the Detroit Tigers needed to beat the Chicago White Sox 5-1 Wednesday night.

Many of our Twitter friends weighed in on Jerry's first pitch saying things like "Good pitch by the Chief" and "Looked like a strike to me."
