DETROIT (WXYZ) - A judge is keeping a local cancer doctor accused of massive Medicare fraud behind bars.
Just minutes ago, Bond was denied for Doctor Farid Fata.
His attorneys had wanted his $9 million bond reduced to just $500,000. But instead, a federal judge revoked his bond, saying he is a flight risk.
The Oakland Township doctor faces 14 counts and is accused of misdiagnosing and mistreating patients to bill millions of dollars to Medicare.
A trial date for February 4th has been set.
