DETROIT, Mich (WXYZ) - The lawyer for the serial rape suspect is speaking out for the first time, saying his client told investigators he did not do this.
Lawyer James Galen says he hasn't asked his client about the specific allegations because there is no private place to meet at the 2nd precinct where he is being held until his arraignment.
Galen says he has read about the rapes on the city's northeast side and he doesn't like it, but he says he doesn't have to like it, he just has to give him the best representation.
He also says he has met with the suspect's family and they feel remorse and concern for the victims, in fact they had a pastor at the Lawyer's office and they prayed for the victims and for the suspect.
