SOUTHFIELD (WXYZ) - A local coney dog eating champion and wrestler will be one of the contestants tonight on one of Channel 7’s newest shows.
DeSean ‘Whip Dog’ Whipple will be vying for $50,000 on the game show, Let’s Ask America.
The game show allows participants to Skype into a studio where they answer questions polled by Americans.
“Had all of my wrestling gear on, the belts in the air and they just ask you some kind of questions that America would think. Like: 'what’s your favorite food and stuff,'” said DeSean.
The local professional wrestler told 7 Action News he jumped at the chance to win thousands of dollars.
“They called me, I was going crazy,” said DeSean. “Plus I needed $50,000 I’m not even going to lie to you. So that’s why I really wanted to do it.”
In tonight’s show, he said you will see a lot of his 'Whip Dog' alter ego.
“They’re going to see me act funny, be silly, and laugh… and they’re going to cheer for me too. Right? Cause they want me to win. Right? They want me to win $50,000. Right,” said DeSean.
He may also sound familiar. DeSean is the winner of the American Coney Island Coney Dog Eating Challenge not only in 2013 but also in 2012.
“Back to back 2012 and 2013,” said DeSean. “Ten and a half coney dogs. Okay I keep saying that but I’m going to win again next year. 3-peat, I’ll tell you that. I know I’m going to do that!”
He would not share with 7 Action News if he is the winner tonight.
Tune into Let’s Ask America at 7:30 on WXYZ-TV Channel 7.
