Detroit Police say a man is in critical condition after being shot on the city's east side.

Officers say it happened at Gratiot and Lappin, near 7 Mile. Witnesses say the shooting may have been the result of road rage or a robbery gone bad.

The victim was transported to the hospital by police officers. It is believed that the victim has Hepatitis C. The officers are undergoing screening for the disease because they came into contact with his blood.

Police are searching for a white Ford Crown Victoria with a blue top that it is believed the suspect was driving.
