PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) - A man is dead following a terrible motorcycle accident in Pontiac overnight.
A sheriff's patrol car saw the crash on northbound Woodward near Osmun Street shortly after midnight.
The deputy tried to stop the 22-year-old motorcyclist as he went through the red light near South Boulevard and Centerpoint Parkway. The man, who is from Grand Blanc Township, continued on at a high rate of speed.
He turned onto southbound Woodward going the wrong way.
Losing control while turning, he went off the road, ejecting from the motorcycle and hitting a cement sign in the median before landing against another wooden sign.
Although he was wearing a helmet, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are trying to learn if alcohol was involved.
