(WXYZ) - Detroit-born Gabi Gregg will be MTV’s first Twitter Jockey. The 24-year-old gained a name for herself as a plus-size fashion blogger. Now she will be the face of MTV on Twitter.
Gregg was among 20 competitors vying for the $100,000 job. Sunday night, she won the prize during the live finale of MTV’s live televised finale of "Follow Me: The Search for the First MTV TJ."
In an online bio , Gregg, who will soon move to New York City for her new job, expresses her love for her hometown. “My heart will always remain in Detroit; I love it so much, I even have the signature old English ‘D’ tattooed on the back of my neck,” she says.
Her blog Youngfatandfabulous.com has become a well-known plus-size fashion site, once featured on Good Morning America.
It’s not entirely clear just what the TJ’s job will be. MTV says Gregg will now be the face of their social media efforts.
According to MTV.com, “The MTV TJ will begin work immediately, reporting for their first high-profile assignment at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12.”
