DETROIT (WXYZ) - Police say a young woman suffered minor injuries in a shooting that occurred on northbound I-75 at Vernor.
Northbound I-75 was closed at Livernois for hours because of the shooting. It has since been reopened.
Officers say an Oldsmobile minivan with several bullet holes in it, crashed along the freeway just before rush hour Tuesday afternoon.
According to state troopers, she was shot in the leg while riding in the passenger seat of the minivan her boyfriend was driving.
Her current condition isn't known.
Michigan State Police say the shots were fired on the freeway but the incident started off the highway.
The driver of the minivan drove onto I-75 at the Livernois entrance while it was happening.
Police say they have identified a suspect in the case.
The gunman continued on northbound I-75.
No one else was hurt.
