(WXYZ) - Just seven years ago, Patrick Dempsey, best known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd on the ABC hit show Grey's Anatomy, decided to pursue a lifelong dream and start a racing team.
Since, Dempsey Racing has become a mainstay in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series.
Patrick is in Detroit this week to race in the Chevrolet Grand-Am 200 on Belle Isle and chatted with Tom Leyden this afternoon about his appreciation for the Motor City and whether his involvement in auto racing surprises some of his biggest fans.
