DETROIT (WXYZ) - The family of 38-year-old DaJuan Thomas is heartbroken and looking for answers at the same time Detroit Police are searching for a killer.

There is surveillance video of a person-of-interest and police hope if they find him, they will find out what happened to DuJuan Thomas.

"It's devastating," says Mary Sims, DaJuan's mom.  "So painful," says sister Dionne Thomas-Love. "He was the best brother in the world," says another sister, Ceriena Thomas.

Family members and police say DaJuan had no criminal past. They say he was an amazing and kind man who was careful and always urged the family members to be careful of their surroundings.

He was shot outside a party story on McNichols near Outer Drive Monday night just after 7, it was still light out.

Police say they have no motive, but know that DaJuan was running away when he was shot. The family says he stopped there for a bottle of pop.

If you know anything or recognize the man in the surveillance video, call police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
