(WXYZ) - Police say overnight there was a standoff at a home on the city's northwest side.
Police responded to a home at American and Burlingame after a man with past mental issues started shooting. He reportedly fired the gun inside the home but no one was hurt.
Swat teams were called in and for some time police put the neighborhood on lockdown.
Eventually, authorities coaxed the man out of his house and into custody.
"One moment they're counselors. The next they are chasing bad guys between houses," said Lt. Charles Mahone of the Detroit Police Department. "This is something they trained hard for. This time the training bore fruit."
Police seized 7 guns in the man's house.
The suspect is in the hospital getting mental health treatment.
