DETROIT (WXYZ) - Police from Hamtramck and Detroit, along with Michigan State Police, are using shovels and a canine team to search Eliza Howell Park on Detroit's west side for any sign of Abreeya Brown and Ashley Conaway .
Officers are also searching an area adjacent to the park. It's not known what they are looking for.
The two women were abducted last week after Abreeya's stepfather reportedly exchanged gunfire with two armed men outside his home in Hamtramck.
Brandon Cain , 26, and his friend Brian Lee, 24, are suspected in the abduction. Both are in custody on other charges.
In the weeks leading up to the kidnapping, police say Cain tried to pay the women thousands of dollars in hopes that they would refuse to testify that he and Lee were involved in a shooting on February 8.
Ashley was grazed in that shooting. Police sources say Cain ordered Lee to shoot at the women because he was angry that Ashley was ending their relationship.
