Detroit, Mich (WXYZ) - Detroit students described their experiences and concerns about getting to and from school safely during a special panel discussion. Wednesday.
The students said fear was common among the many students who must take city busses to classes and often are forced to walk several blocks to reach their school.
"Unheard Stories: A Discussion on Student Safety and Solutions in Detroit" was facillitated by Ambassador Magazine publisher Denise Ilitch. ill be held Wednesday, March 30, at Michigan State University's Detroit Center, located at 3408 Woodward Avenue.
Six high school students were joined by teachers, adminiistrators and community members for the roundtable discussion at Michigan State University's Detroit Center. Detroit City Council members Saunteel Jenkins and James Tate also attended the forum.
The Skillman Foundation and the City of Detroit's Forum on Youth Violence partnered with Ambassador Magazine for the event.
