DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit police and fire retirees are getting a helping hand from an iconic midtown Detroit restaurant.
The Whitney is serving up what it calls the "9 by 9" program.
The name is intended to put a more positive spin on the number linked to Detroit's chapter 9 bankruptcy filing.
During the month of August, customers can get 9% off the tab on their ala-carte dining menu.
The Whitney also pledges to donate 9% of its ala-carte earnings for the month to the Detroit police and fire pension fund.
