DETROIT (WXYZ) - Three people have been taken to the hospital following a violent crash at the end of a police chase.
Police say officers from Wayne State University Police were following a Jeep Liberty with a smashed window and two people inside. The SUV took off when police went in for a closer look.
Witnesses say the the chase reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour until the Jeep crashed into a white car at an intersection near 7 Mile and Greeley.
It then went up and over the curb, slamming into a street sign and hitting three people at a nearby bus stop.
The driver of the white car and the two people at the bus stop were taken to hospital.
One person is in critical condition. The condition of the other two people isn't known.
Police say the people in the Jeep ran away from the scene.
