Charges have been announced against three people in connection with a shooting after a cruise on the Detroit Princess boat back on August 6.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy is charging 28-year-old Latoiya Mitchell-Thomas, her husband 32-year-old Michael Thomas and 45-year-old LaDon Richard.
Latoiya Mitchell-Thomas is charged with 6 counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, 6 counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, 6 counts of Felonious Assault, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Felony Firearm.
Michael A. Thomas is charged with Felonious Assault and Assault and Battery.
LaDon Richard is charged with 2 counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, 2 counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, 2 counts of Felonious Assault , Careless Reckless Discharge Causing Injury and Felony Firearm.
" Real life cases with real life consequences are not wrapped up in 44 minute crime episodes. .After a thorough examination of the case, we have charged three people with a total of 30 criminal counts," said Prosecutor Worthy.
Latoiya Mitchell-Thomas and LaDon Richard are expected to be arraigned in 36th District Court today at 1:00 p.m.
A date has not been confirmed for the arraignment of Michael Thomas.
The shooting took place on August 6 at Atwater and Civic Center Drive at 1:00 a.m. after an alleged fight between Mr. and Mrs. Thomas with another female on the Detroit Princess boat. After the cruise, the couple reportedly went to their car and then fired into the crowd wounding several people.
As the couple were driving away from scene, it is alleged that LaDon Richard fired a gun wounding Michael Thomas in the back.
