(WXYZ) - Right now the Wayne County Medical Examiner is working to identify two people found in a burning car early this morning on Detroit's Northwest side.
Crews were called to the scene of the fire in Detroit where they made a gruesome discovery around 12:30 a.m. in the 12800 block of Chapel, near Glendale.
Police tell 7 Action News this fire was no accident.
The body of a man was found in the trunk and the body of a woman was discovered in the back seat.
Police believe they may have been murdered somewhere else and then brought to the area.
The car was placed between two vacant homes, so investigators worry they’ll have trouble finding any witnesses.
"We have vacant home after vacant home on this street," said Jack Sparks who lives about a block away from where the bodies were found. "There's nothing you can do."
"We try to watch out for each other on this street," said Matt Sparks. "I pray whoever killed them is found."
Police say it is still early in the investigation, but there is no reason to believe this crime is connected to other similar crimes. You may remember late last year there were fears a serial killer was targeting women. Several women were found dead in the trunks of burning cars on the city's eastside.
