(WXYZ) - Two men have been arrested in connection with the Backpage.com murder investigation.

The men were taken into custody in Sterling Heights at around 6:00 a.m..

They have only been identified as a 32-year-old man and a 24-year-old man. The father of the 32 year old tells 7 action news the men are cousins..

The investigation into the Backpage.com murders began in December 2011 when the bodies of four women were found in the trunks of burned out cars in Detroit. Police said three of the four women were linked to the escort website.

They had been dumped in two different locations on Detroit's east side on two different occasions.

Two of the four victims were cousins. Their moms tell us they are hoping this will bring them the closure and justice they so desperately need.

Tuesday's arrests came in cooperation with Sterling Heights Police, the Detroit Police Department's violent crimes task force has been investigating the murders, several agencies are part of that task force.

The two men arrested were questioned by homicide detectives and will be held pending expected charges.
