DETROIT (WXYZ) - Three people were killed overnight when fires broke out in two separate homes in Detroit.
One man was killed in a fire on Humboldt street at 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Kevin Jackson, 43, was not able to make it out of the home when fire swept through.
Family members told 7 Action News the home did not have working electricity and that the victim was using a generator to keep stay warm. Two cars in the driveway were damaged by smoke and debris.
Investigators say the fire looks suspicious.
In a separate fire, a couple lost their lives when fire erupted in their home on the city's west side. Kyle and Teresa Bozeman were in their 70s. Their dog, named Sasha, was also killed in the fire.
The fire broke out around 4:00 a.m. and is believed to have started in the back of the home.
