DETROIT (WXYZ) - On November 5, 1992, Malice Green died after being beaten to death by Detroit police. This archival video comes from 7 Action News at 5 p.m. and contains some of the first reporting on the incident.
Officers Larry Nevers and Walter Budzyn were found guilty of second-degree murder in 1993. In 1997, Budzyn's conviction was overturned but Nevers' was upheld.
Nevers' verdict was eventually overturned in federal court. He was then convicted for Involuntary Manslaughter and spent more time in prison.
Larry Nevers was released in 2001 to serve the rest of his sentence at home after being diagnosed and treated with lung cancer. Word of his death came today .
