(WXYZ) - What could be more inspiring than a group of recent college graduates who have decided to move to Detroit to make a difference?
There’s one problem. A video that the group posted to YouTube has created more controversy than the young adults probably ever expected or intended.
The group is from Austin, Texas. In the video, they say they have been called by the Lord to come to Detroit.
Sitting on a couch, all five speak with passion and excitement about their plans to move to and work in the city.
Comments on YouTube and social media sites exploded, mainly over references made in the video including descriptions using terms like “ancient ruins” and “slum community.” Many comments have been extremely negative and clearly many people were personally offended.
While the video has garnered criticism, there are some people who say the group is doing what is in their heart and shouldn’t be lambasted for wanting to make Detroit their new home.
We want to know what you think. Watch the video below and leave us a comment.
