DETROIT (WXYZ) - When Alan Sauve left Windsor for the tunnel into Detroit Saturday it would appear he had no idea border patrol would be waiting for him. Sauve was being tracked by detectives in Virginia who caught him allegedly hitting up a 14-year-old girl for sex over the internet.
“His stated goal over and over again was to come over to the U.S. to impregnate the girl and then bring her back to Canada to live with him as his wife,” said Detective Patrick Siewert of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Department in Virginia.
After Virginia investigators put out the warrant border patrol here went into action and caught Sauve as he tried to enter Detroit from the tunnel.
“Once the solicitation was reported, the [Louisa County Internet Crimes Against Children task force] assumed the girl's online identity and began communicating with Sauve and eventually a meeting place in Michigan was set for November 13,” officials said from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Department in Virginia.
The undercover online dragnet began ten months ago when the Virginia teen told her guidance counselor about an online exchange between her and what she thought was a 16-year-old boy.
The school got police involved and a detective assumed the teen girl’s identity. The detective quickly realized the profile the teen was interacting with was a sham and that it was Sauve behind the perverted advances.
Making this all even more horrific, Sauve is a school bus driver in Windsor.
Sauve is behind bars in metro Detroit awaiting extradition to Virginia.
