DETROIT (WXYZ) - If you have an opinion on Light Rail Transit in Detroit, you'll want to make it to the meeting offered by the Detroit Department of Transportation Thursday, March 10.
The topic of course, will be the proposed Woodward Avenue project. The meeting gets underway at 6:30 p.m. and will likely wrap up by 8:30 pm. It's being held at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 9760 Woodward, in Detroit.
There will be discussion and a chance to ask questions about the rail main line and the three downtown option designs, as well as the impact on neighborhoods. And, you can offer possible alternatives.
DDOT Director Lovevett Williams says, "Our goal is to make sure that everyone who lives along the Woodward Avenue corridor is well informed about the project and has the opportunity to voice their thoughts about the project before the public comment period ends on March 14."
Your comments will become part of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) which will be given to the Federal Transit Administration and used in the approval process. You could also provide written comment, if you like, by e-mailing woodwardavenuelightrail@detroitmi.gov .
The meeting is co-sponsored by the City of Detroit and the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration.
