Volunteers work to clean up a lot that had become a neighborhood eyesore. In all, more than 100 worked with the Motor City Blightbusters to clean up around three project sites Saturday.

DETROIT (WXYZ) - More than one hundred metro Detroiters rolled up their sleeves Saturday to help beautify the city as part of an event organized by WXYZ’s #Backchannel Twitter “family.”
During Channel 7 newscasts our anchors, reporters, producers, photographers and other staffers are engaged in an ongoing conversation via Twitter with hundreds of viewers at a time. That “backchannel” unified to help the Motor City Blight Busters take down an old building, clear a vacant eyesore and clean up a playground.
