DETROIT (WXYZ) - More than one hundred metro Detroiters rolled up their sleeves Saturday to help beautify the city as part of an event organized by WXYZ’s #Backchannel Twitter “family.”

During Channel 7 newscasts our anchors, reporters, producers, photographers and other staffers are engaged in an ongoing conversation via Twitter with hundreds of viewers at a time. That “backchannel” unified to help the Motor City Blight Busters take down an old building, clear a vacant eyesore and clean up a playground.

Below, you can see photos and words shared by participants in the Bustup event who posted to Twitter and Facebook as it was all happening.

We’re proud of the work that was done today and glad to have had all of the help to make this happen. Thank you to everyone who helped out!
