DETROIT (WXYZ) - Keeping our young people safe was the focus of a special conference held Wednesday morning.
The Youth Violence Prevention conference was held at the Doubletree Hotel in Detroit.
Mayor Dave Bing, Chief Ralph Godbee and U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade were joined by other community leaders and students as they talked about reducing violence in the city of Detroit.
The group is exploring how to keep recreation centers open and finding more jobs for teenagers.
Parents and children say safety is their number one concern.
