BRIGHTON, Mich. (WXYZ) - A crash involving a semi-truck on I-96 caused battery acid to leak on the roadway below.

It happened at the border of Brighton and Brighton Township. Nobody was injured.

Michigan State Police say the driver of the big rig lost control of the truck while entering the freeway from a ramp. The semi tipped, spilling a load of batteries. Some of them cracked and leaked.

Hazardous materials crews spent most of Tuesday on the scene treating the mess of acid at Grand River under the I-96 bridge.

The accident blocked all lanes of Eastbound I-96 at Grand River for hours. The freeway was reopened shortly before 11:15 p.m.
